Leeds New MuslimsAbout Shaykh Musab
Shaykh Musab Penfound was born and raised in Manchester, England. After a two year journey, he entered Islam at the age of eighteen. Since 2005, after an interim period at the University of Manchester attaining a degree in Arabic Language & History, he has been living in the Muslim world, with time spent in the lands of both Egypt and Southern Arabia. On his travels, he has been studying full-time under a variety of scholars, each with unbroken chains of scholarly transmission back to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He has received training through a classical syllabus based upon the formal Islamic sciences combined with the disciplines of inward purification. He has received scholastic permission and licences (ijazah) from leading traditional scholars, providing authentic credentials that ensure a trustworthy and credible source for accurate teaching and demonstration of the faith.

We understand that the month of Dhul Hijjah begins tomorrow (Saturday, 3rd Sept 2016). Dhul Hijjah is a very special month in the Islamic calendar. It it the month of the Hajj (the Pilgrimage), the Day of Arafat and Eid ul-Adha.
During the first 9 days, we are encouraged to undertake voluntary acts of worship i.e. fasting, night prayers, remembering Allah (dhikr) and giving charity as there are great rewards in doing this.
It is especially encouraged to fast the 9th day (Sunday, 11th September), the Day of Arafat, as fasting on this day wipes out the sins of the previous year, insha Allah.
Eid ul-Adha will be on Monday, 12th September. We will be heading down to the The Lakeside Cafe, Roundhay Park from 10am for breakfast. If you've never visited Lakeside before, there's plenty of free parking, a children's playground and the beautiful Waterloo lake to enjoy.
Lakeside Cafe have put together a special Eid offer:
- Choice of hot drink with a scone/pastry from top two shelves - £3
- Cooked breakfast (halal sausages) with hot drink - £1 discount
Postcode for your sat-nav is LS8 2JL.

Leeds New Muslims organise public events on a monthly basis attracting a wide variety of people from all walks of life and crossing different communities in and around the Leeds area.
We are always looking for ways to make our events more engaging and try and offer more to our community so if you would like to book a stall at one of our events then please email us with information about what you would like to sell or promote and we will do our utmost to accomodate you.
Unfortunately without prior permission being granted you will NOT be able to simply turn up and set up a stall.
As a charity we kindly ask anyone wanting to sell goods at our events to make a small donation to help us sustain our ongoing work.
