Shahada – Becoming Muslim
The shahadah is the testimony of faith in Islam. The affirmation that:
There is no god except Allah and that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon Him) is the Messenger of Allah.
The shahadah is the beginning of your journey as a Muslim. Your journey towards Allah.
Being a Muslim is built upon the five pillars:
- Shahadah – faith or iman in Arabic
- Salat – The five daily prayers
- Zakat – Donating 2.5% of your excess wealth
- Sawm – Fasting the month of Ramadan
- Hajj – The Pilgrimage to Makkah, once in a lifetime if you are able

Next Steps
1 – Get in touch via WhatsApp and ask any questions you may have about becoming Muslim/taking your shahadah
2 – If you would like to proceed with taking shahadah, we will arrange to meet you in person with some of our volunteers. We encourage you to bring family/friends to attend.
Please note, if you are under 18 years, we will need a parent or guardian to accompany you whilst we witness your shahadah
3 – Once your shahadah is complete, we will give you a gift pack which contains a Qur’an, a prayer mat and various books. We also offer a shahadah certificate.
4 – Our volunteers can help you learn the basics. This includes the rituals of purification and prayer.
5 – Join our community of convert/revert Muslims for social and educational events. We have a dedicated WhatsApp Channel for event notifications.
